Stabbing

*    Re New Year's eve violence in Napier: My teenage son reported lots of street fights on the walk home from the fireworks. Counts himself lucky not to have been on the receiving end of these idiots who go looking for a fight. A knife was presented in one
instance. Someone's got to get hard and I mean hard on these buggers.

*    Editorial by Grant Harding re Napier stabbing excellent article. Too many touchy, feely officials with soft gloves on their hands.

*    Maybe everyone on Kennedy Rd should start wearing red T-shirts just to show those punks they are a total minority and hugely outnumbered.

*    What's wrong with our system? We are always ganging up on the children walking the streets causing trouble, smoking and drinking when all it is is a cry for help. Why don't we get together and find a way to keep our children busy, eg community work, cutting wood for the old, gathering food for the needy, tidying parks, sweeping gutters, general help. Let's help our kids and help stop the abuse. Loving parent

*    What's with the New Year's eve heavy boozers on Napier's Marine Parade. C'mon cops it's supposed to be an alcohol free, family friendly event.

*    Totally agree with JR: Absolutely shocking selection of TV programming on New Year's eve - not even a countdown! SC

*    Close Emerson St to all traffic, permanently. Nik.

*    Congratulations to the recycle and rubbish crews for a job well done. D

*    Go to the Sound Shell every year to hear the pipe band. Where were they? Missed them so much. M

*    Cantabrians must be fed up with earthquakes being minimalised by calling them aftershocks. Surely they are earthquakes in their own right. RC

*    We agree with WJ, Mcdonald's needs to be in our village. Their McCafe's coffee is great, staff pleasant. Where can you purchase two coffees and muffins for $10?

*    I guess we are never going to hear the end of the Havelock/Mcdonald's debate. At the end of the day the best influence to encourage a healthy lifestyle in kids comes from home, not at Maccas! Monkey see-monkey do.

*    The northern entrance to Hastings is so soul less. It could be any town in the United States, all concrete and wires.

*    To the couple walking past KFC Hastings: I noticed the woman would spit on the pavement about every 10 paces. Disgusting.

*    Yeah, I've had my shoes pinched from the Flaxmere marae too. Who does that?

*    Text regarding Boxing Day sales and stress: Well the only stress I felt was when I read the text from MP. I didn't even know the sales were on.

*    In Tuesday's trivia section it is stated that the earths temperature has been cooling since 2002? So what happened to global warming?

*    Just wondering if anyone has noticed that in the new phone book yellow pages that pages 75-76 are missing? Got a replacement, it was the same. Rob

*    New water park at Onekawa sounds fab. Shade sails will be great but lots of trees too please.

*    Why is Splash Planet only open until 5.30pm? What about the rate payers who pay for it wanting to have an after work/dinner swim?

*    Rent the doco DVD Gas Land and just like me you will be shocked that the same criminal behaviour has started here. Fracture drilling is nothing short of environmental suicide for us all. Air it on national telly and then the blind will see. WRM

*    With the increase of a packet of tobacco this Government wants smokers to quit. As a non smoker myself l dare say l will be paying more tax to cover the cost of the tax lost by smokers giving up. Mark my words we will all be in for a tax rise on this factor as the Government does not like a loss in revenue. They of course want more new BMW cars in a few years time for their toyworld.

*    Re all the people getting drunk in Havelock bars are from Hastings. Another Tui ad? Yeah right

*    Loved my recent experience shopping at the Hastings i-site. Great selection of gifts and souvenirs. As a Hastings rate payer I'm happy to support the local tourism and at the end of the day Tui is New Zealand made! It's hard times. Kia kaha Aotearoa!

*    Re tui product at i-site. The Tui Brewery and Tui brand is an iconic part of NZ tourism. As a tourist information centre the product is supplied for visitors who want a souvenir from the experience they have had in NZ. This includes food and beverage. Would you complain if this was in Germany?

*    Is it just me? Are Napier's roads the roughest around? Tyre shops. must love you! PB

*    Suggestion to council: To avoid heavy congestion at Main Rd, Clive, in Ferry Rd and School Rd why don't you buy Waterline Restaurant. Move it, then make a roundabout.

*    To the lady grooming her giant dog at Harding Rd playground: Next time can you clean up all the fur you left lying around right where kids were playing, or better still, groom your dog and make a mess at your place, not all over public property! Gross!!
