Kaimoana

*  Re kaimoana from the sea: Quotas are in place so there is more for next time and for the next generation. If there were no bag limits there would be nothing left for anyone. Supermarkets have their suppliers. Check out the fisheries website for info. Only poachers
or people who are greedy would text in something like that. Think, people. T

*  Re text of the day, January 4: Are you for real? Not hard to work that one out, they are farmed. Do I need to explain further?

A and E

*   If people are having to go to HB Hospital with minor complaints it's because the local doctors are too expensive.

*   Regarding HB Hospital staff's frustration at the use of A and E: As a member of the public I'm frustrated I cannot utilise a medical centre as they close at 8pm in Hastings. Surely if they stayed open another two hours, especially in the summer months, it would ease the A and E load.

Other thoughts

*    I visited Martin Place the day after Boxing Day with recycling. What a mess, with bins all overflowing. So I went the next day and it was spotless. The council and truck guy need a medal. Needs to be looked into, HDC.

*   Is there anyone out there who cleans domestic ovens?

*   Cool pic of Martin the cat, of Clive.

*   I was just wondering if Bruce Bisset has anything nice to say. Seems a very depressed fellow. LK

*   All the people getting drunk are from Hastings? Get over yourselves. They are definitely from Havelock, you just do not want to admit it.

*   To the texter who said all drunk people in Havelock come from Hastings: How do they know that? Do they follow them home?

*   Can the Napier City Council please paint the concrete island at the entrance into Tamatea. It is grotty and a disgrace to Napier's image, just like a lot of other intersections in the city. RJR

*   Great - heaps of smokers quitting. Bad news - heaps of break-ins to steal cigarettes for the black market. Up goes tax on everything to cover the lost tax. Baza

*   Thanks to the low-lifes who ripped off a house in Hitchings Ave, Napier, overnight Friday/Saturday. They took electrical goods, food, clothes, linen, tools, jewellery and personal data. TSA

*   Excellent letter on January 3 from MP. My thoughts exactly.

*   I happen to know a couple of guys who slip in and out of the country. They work in the Middle East on various projects. With the recent withdrawl of the military they may need some work here in NZ. First job a 16-yr-old in Turangi, then a nice visit to Napier to take care of the toe-rags who beat and stabbed the guy on New Year's Day. It would be dollars well spent, I say.

*   Great play area at Ahuriri, but more swings needed for 2 to 3yr-olds, also other small play things.

*   Well, my children swum with the dolphins at Marineland years ago an enjoyed the experience.

*   Sold my vote, got a new surfboard. AJC

*   No wonder Hastings is branded as having the worst drivers in NZ! Stupid U-turns, who cares if there's oncoming traffic? No indicating? Don't cry if you get hurt. JAK

*   Hawke's Bay red T-shirt day: We need to march to show these drop-kick gang wanabees that we can wear what we like, when we like. Remember the Gisborne gang taking a red shirt off a 4-year-old in a playground?

*   My thoughts and prayers are with the young man viciously assaulted on New Year's Day. Another life ruined by evil scum who walk our streets.

*   To the mute button texter, I also have one but find it annoying having to endure that many adverts during a 65min movie. Charles.

*   Re Sue Elstone's letter to Ed on January 3: This country is already too PC. No one is being forced to buy Tui branded products - it is called choice and the majority of people act responsibly. BGR

*   Since when has horse racing become a kids' event? What happened to adult entertainment?

*   To get rid of ants, use the garden spray Carbaryl. Sprinkle powder on trails or in holes they imerge from - 100 per cent success.

*   I live in Wellesley Rd, where some drivers go too fast. Please slow down. A speed camera both ways may do the trick. J Brown
