*     HB Food and Wine Festival not on now with all the money going into our museum. We could have it there? Pahoe, Napier

*     Since the HDC refuses to remove the rubbish charge off my rates as I don't use the service I am now joining the people in Lumsden Rd and having the HDC mow my nature strip outside my house as they are required to.

*     Elvis tribute show at Sound Shell in Napier was great show. kids and adults enjoyed themselves. We need more of these. Thanks to the organisers.

*     It is great to see rate payers finally standing up to the high pay rises the CEO of Kapiti and Christchurch are receiving. I would like to see it taken one step further. If our council does not live within its budget, we pay our rates into a trust account till they learn to live within budget rather than putting rates up yearly in this recession as they continually do. Also if CEOs pay is what they would get in the private sector, let them work in the private sector. CB

*     A passing lane on Napier/ Hastings expressway would be a good idea. That way frustrated drivers could pass those in no rush who want to go slow and smell the flowers. JHW

*     What a waste of tax money that walkway behind Te Mata Peak is. I've been living out there for years and haven't seen a walker yet.

*     How come council can waste our rates on all these cycle lanes? When I rang about patch up work done on pathways in Mahora I was told there was a money shortage. Yeah right.

*     MH 80km airport to Bay View? How stupid. Raise whole section back to 100km and get rid of those confusing orange markers. Every day I see someone pulling into the left lane instead of the merge lane. How is that safe!

*     We will start living in the 21st century when the public vote for a younger council and mayors for Hawke's Bay.

*     Text regarding graves: Let's meet and do it ourselves. Respect all year round.

*     Where is MAF? Why aren't they watching the reserve near Blackhead? Do they actually know how many people go to the reserve to gather their kai moana? I am a descendant to Porangahau who lives in Hastings and I'm not only hearing that people are diving in the reserve but seeing people sell what they have retrieved from the reserve and it's a weekly thing. Get out there and save what we call the reserve.

*     PS: I know these people who are doing this - I want to knock them out but then I will end up in the cuffs.

*     When Hastings comes into the 21st century we may get a decent cinema!

*     Are HB farmers to build water storage dam because fracking will poison the artesian sources? PG

*     It won't be a modern and wealthy HB, DMcC, if the HB aquifer water is tainted by the fracking. When the orchards, farms and vineyards dependant on the aquifer have to shut shop and we are all on tank water. Weka.

*     Dannevirke A & P show admission: Family $13, adults $6, child $2, pre-school free! Let's bring these rates back to the Hawke's Bay A & P Show so our families and community can all enjoy a family day out!

*     I have been told that yes Muffs has gone, but it seems Muffin Break is going in at K.Mart soon.

*     Maori Party I salute you for trying to keep this Government honest. National did not get a mandate from the people of this country to sell SOA's, needing coalition partners to govern. The last bastion of democracy in NZ now are these partners. Well done Maori Party for making a stand. Step-up other MPs now before it's too late. Don't sell our future. VRC, Napier

*     By banning picture of Piri Weepu taking an active role in caring for his daughter, breast feeding hardliners have lost sight of the bigger picture and lost a wonderful illustration of a supportive father. My aroha to all dads who bottle feed their babies whether with breast milk or formula.

*     Who else has noticed the public toilets along Marine Parade painted Art Deco? Surely our rate payers money could be better spent. Ask the payers. There's more to Napier than Art Deco. Raewyn

*     Does anyone know where I can buy real greengage plums? The old type not the tasteless 'new' ones.

*     Why do antibiotics these days, make you feel like c***p? They never used to.

*     Thank you Grant Harding. Your editorial was spot on. Surely a police presence on the Beat would make a huge difference to discourage loiterers and scumbags. Remember a few years back (2006/07) when we had a young female constable patrolling Hastings CBD.

*     Just when her methods for dealing with the delinquents appeared to be working her bosses moved her out of Hastings and she has never been replaced! Also, how about HDC cleaning the CBD pavements daily or at least weekly and yes put in a few more public toilets - go check out Napier's. They seem to manage both plus have a financial surplus. Unlike HDC but then I guess their priorities are more about the ratepayers (ie people). MH
