Obesity

To the concerned nurse: Not all our obese kids dine at McDonald's, KFC or Burger King. Some have genuine reasons for being big and as a concerned nurse you should know that. So please don't mock our babies or their mums and dads. We have enough to cope with,
as people can see.

Concerned nurse disgusted: Harsh words that are bullying fodder for idiots. Obesity is a sad problem. They need positive input.

Concerned nurse: I agree with you that yes indeed, takeaways are cheaper than veges, fizzy cheaper than milk. A lot of families I know live on take-outs, as they are cheaper than groceries. Something's got to give!

Abortion protest

Re: "Why don't the abortion protesters outside HB Hospital get a real job?" You have become desensitised to the value of human life over money. I'd take a deep look inside myself.

Re the text telling anti-abortion protesters to get a real job. Wake up, what future NZ great minds are we killing?

Abortion protesters outside hospital are a disgrace. It's a female's personal decision and not an easy one, and they have their own private reasons for their choice. KL

Running of sheep

Have you noticed that all of the objectors to the Waipukurau running of the sheep are not HB people and I wouldn't mind betting have never stepped on a farm in their life.

Re R Moorhead letter re sheep run: Sheep herded and moved for valid reason may be okay. Waipuk sheep run for people's entertainment not valid reason.

Re The running of the sheep in Waipuk: Don't worry about the sheep, Elizabeth. Feel sorry for the people that have to clean up the poo afterwards.

Liz ya towny, grow up. If it was stressing for the sheep the cockies in CHB would never let it happen.

Re: Sheep abuse - paints us poorly. Come on Elizabeth O'Connor, get a life and start complaining about things that really matter in this life. The sheep will be fine. BJS

Court sentence

Another case of the legal clan looking after themselves. Prominent family? No ,just a drunk lawyer and why is she hiding in the Auckland courts?

Barrister done 3rd time for drink-driving. True if that was myself l would be spending time behind bars, being steel ones.

The judge is right, public are not interested in casting stones at Sacha or anyone else for that matter, live and let live!

Rugby mascot

What a joke Hastings rugby mascot is. Looks more like an egg! Whoever thought it up should be fired. Glad I don't live there. Bad as All Black black ring campaign.

Name the rugby ball mascot for Hastings? It looks like an egg, not a rugby ball. FY

What's up with Hastings' humpty dumpty mascot?

Other thoughts

HB rugby league boss did you forget you have women's teams in the comp results please.

Hasn't anyone noticed that when National are in power they never stick to their promises? It's the rich get richer and low income earners barely survive. PV

In my opinion the More FM TV ad is lame.

Sadly, S Bathgate-Hunt, the Government doesn't give a flying shmuck about selling NZ land to the Chinese or anyone else. Money is the reason.

To the producers of the NZ music industry: Seriously need to think about remaking a talent show, eg Idol, X Factor. So much talent being wasted out there, guys. Come on, do something!

To the Maraenui Senior rugby team who won the senior 3rds, and to the coach Roger Aranui - well done, you made our community very proud.

Re tram: Another expensive white elephant for ratepayers, just like Splash Planet and the sports park. RSM

I agree with Greg regarding the beaches. Council, offer to pull your finger out and do something, instead of spending money on statues.

Warning people, re car insurance: Our insurance is market value. On the car lot our car is worth $48,000. On insurance books, it's worth $25,000. Check your policies.

Bruce Tait, you speak my language. A well-written letter to the editor. Well done!

Beneficiary bashing's always a good vote catcher.

Thumbs up from Des in Onekawa to the honest person who found my wallet at the beach and returned it by putting it in my letterbox. That was so kind.

To the person or persons who dumped all their rubbish in the clothing bins in Southland Rd at the weekend. It is not a tip. Clean it up. Absolute disgrace.
