Teen charged in relation to attack on 12-year-old boy

Police have charged a youth in relation to the violent attack on a young Hastings teenager two weeks ago.

Azaleas Quenton, 12, was attacked by a group of youths as he walked through Akina Park on 15 August. He received serious facial injuries in the attack.

Police said in a statement a 14-year-old Hastings youth appeared today in the Hastings Youth Court charged with injuring with intent to injure. He was bailed to appear in court again next month.

Police say further arrests are possible and it appeared the group who attacked Azaleas were known to him.
