Hawke's Bay will once again provide a scorcher of a day, with temperatures reaching well into their 20s.

The hot weather is certainly giving people an excuse to get out and about before the wet weather hits late on Friday.

MetService meteorologist Claire Flynn said sunny and humid conditions were set to continue.

"A ridge of high pressure over the country is causing fine weather, but will weaken as a low pressure system, currently developing in the Tasman approaches."

Although rain is set to hit the region, humidity levels will still be high.

"On the weekend, we are looking at 25 degrees for both Napier and Hastings, so not a whole lot cooler," Miss Flynn said.

A high of 28 degrees is expected today, with northeasterlies developing from the afternoon.

Tomorrow, a high of 27 degrees will be felt in Napier, while Hastings will be slightly warmer at 28 degrees.

Cloud will also increase, with some evening rain and northeasterlies.

The warmer weather has given local business a boost.

Village Pool lifeguard Mark Atkins said the hotter temperatures had contributed to higher numbers.

"It has been less busy with children back at school but it gets busier during the afternoons, when they get out of school."

The same can be said for Hastings Bicycle Hire who benefit from the sunny weather.

"We are a weather-dependent business, but we are fortunate that Hawke's Bay is generally quite a sunny region," owner Kelvin Lomberg said.

"We have been quite busy."
