"It's our fifth year, maybe it's the year we win, I hope this is our year," Dominic says. "You have to read lots and remember what you read."
The key for them was knowing a little about a lot of topics and combining their talents.
"All having general knowledge as well as specifics is important," he said.
Students answered questions ranging from Pippi Longstockings' favourite food to the colour of Bob the Builder's hat.
A huge amount of preparation was put in at home, where parents read to kids and encouraged them to pick up books as they got older, literacy lead teacher Vinka Donkin said.
At school, pupils did test quizzes and competed in a Battle of the Books, loosely based on the competition, in order to make the team.
"I am very proud of them, they have all been selected by me because they have a good book knowledge - they all have their individual talents, people that like the classics, people who are up with teen literature, Lucas understands French and German."
The Kids' Lit Quiz is made up of five categories: book titles, book openings, archetypes, characters and authors.
