The staff at Stortford Lodge sale yards dressed up for the cancer society fundraiser Daffodil Day wearing yellow hats.

The Stortford Lodge saleyards in Hastings were a sea of yellow bunting and daffodils yesterday. The yards, cattle rostrum and offices were decked out in daffodil yellow to mark the Cancer Society's annual appeal. Agents wore bright yellow caps, there were daffodils for sale and vendors were invited to donate some of the proceeds of their stock sales to the appeal. Acting centre manager Chris Franklyn said the society was hoping to raise up to $4000 from the day. He said transport companies were joining the stock firms in the appeal by not charging to carry donated stock. "The whole sector is coming on board to help," he said.

Ewes with lambs at foot sold on a solid market at Stortford Lodge yesterday.

Store lamb prices eased except for a pen of exceptional ram lambs which made $205.50.
Some pens of ewe lambs broke through the $170 mark. With the tops making $177.

The cattle yarding of about 165 head sold on a strong market, especially 2-year-old angus steers.
