This week's downpour kept stock in the paddock which meant small yardings for the Stortford Lodge store sale yesterday.

There were only 27 weaner cattle, all from the same vendor, with about 1350 lambs and about 120 ewes on offer to a handful of buyers from Hawke's Bay.

steers, Opouahi Station, Tutira, eight ang, av weight, 151kg, 400c/kg, $605/head; five ang, av weight, 120kg, 400c/kg, $480 /head. Heifers: Opuahi Station, Tutira, eight ang, av weight, 149kg, 374c/kg, $560/head; six ang, av weight, 115kg, 400c/kg, $460/head.

SHEEP
Ewes: (Sil) J and P Syme, Rotohiwi, 46 2th, $132; 35 4/6th, $150.

Big yardings in all classes sold on a solid market at Monday's sale.

There were 95 head of cattle, about 2000 lambs and more than 2000 ewes, the biggest Monday yarding for a long time.

The cattle were all angus but two and the mix of heifers, oxen and cows sold well for a quality offering.

The ewes eased slightly but were still making good money.

The big lambs in the yarding broke the $200 mark and the rest sold according to their quality.

Oxen: (Ang), Av weight, 564kg to 624kg, 292c/kg to 300.5c/kg, $1688/head to $1871/head.
Heifers: (Ang, here-fries), Av weight, 455kg to 569kg, 269c/kg to 272c/kg, $1223/head to $1549/head.
Cows: (Ang), Av weight, 525kg to 647kg, 191c/kg to 201c/kg, $1'002/head to $1301/head.
Bulls: (Simm), Weight, 965kg, 292c/kg, $1813/head.

SHEEP
Ewes: Shorn, good, $157.50 to $165; med, $137 to $145; light, $82.50 to $127. Slipe, good, $145 to $160; med, $118, $129; 2th, $125 to $130; light, $107. Woolly, med, 121.50; light, $107. Wethers, $185.50.
Lambs: Male, $99 to $212; ewe, $119 to $188; b/f, $143.50 to $176; m/s, $130.50 to $176.
