Stabbed man in serious condition

A man is in a serious condition in Hawke's Bay Hospital after being stabbed in the Hastings suburb of Flaxmere.

Police said they were called to a Cartier Cres house at about 2.30am on Sunday to find the man bleeding badly from a stab wound to the chest. It was believed to be the result of a domestic incident and police were speaking to a 19-year-old woman.

No other people were being sought.

The man was taken to hospital where he was reported to be in a serious but stable condition.
