If you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen, if you can, you could win a dinner for four at Mamacita.

The Bay's strongest stomachs will test their toughness at the chilli eating competition at the Village Carnival, Havelock North tomorrow.

Award winning saucerors Alvin and Tricia Watson from Orcona Chillis 'n Peppers will supply the hottest chillis in the Bay and in collaboration with The Hits are looking for eight brave locals to see if they've got what it takes to become Hawke's Bay's chilli champ.

Mrs Watson said competitors will be allowed to wash down the extremely hot chillis with some locally sourced Origin Earth milk. She said the competition chillis will be cayenne, jalapenos and possibly a habanero if any one is game enough. Mrs Watson and her husband are fresh off claiming three titles at the prestigious Mr Chilli Awards in Australia.

They were awarded first place for their sweet thai chilli ginger sauce in the sweet section. First place for their chilli plum sauce in the fruit section and second place for their hairy cactus sauce - jalapeno section.

Mrs Watson and her husband took over the business 12 months ago and have enjoyed unprecedented success in their first year. They have put an emphasis on rebranding and commercial endorsement. "We have an established brand that is tried and trusted."

Their achievements can be put down to hard work producing a quality product. "We use only the finest all natural ingredients free from additives, preservatives, flavours, colours, gluten and dairy.

"We sell at the Hastings Farmers Market every Sunday and will also be at The Black Barn Market this summer as well as in speciality food stores around New Zealand."
