Bic Runga is bringing a summer treat to Waiheke Island this January, performing at Goldie Estate, site of the island's oldest winery and home to amazing views.

Runga will be supported by Lawrence Arabia doing a solo show.

Tickets went on sale this week for the January 12 show, from Ticketek.

Lawrence Arabia (aka James Milne), meanwhile, has been releasing songs as he makes them, via his Singles Club.

Single No 10, Contagious Dream Heals The World, is out this week. Milne says the origins of the song lie in a dream.

That dream was inside another dream he was having, "a contagious dream that took over everyone's minds, filling them with gooey loving sentiments, thus healing the world".

It certainly is a healing track. Listening to it is like floating in a crystal clear pool. Even its air-raid siren-like strings can't break the spell.

Kiwi thrash metallers Alien Weaponry are set to launch into their first Australasian tour.

The Waipu trio will play six centres in New Zealand — Tauranga, Hamilton, Auckland, Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington — in late March 2019, as well as six dates in Australia.

Alien Weaponry won Best Rock Artist at this year's Vodafone NZ Music Awards.

Villainy's new video Raised in the Dark captures the house party that caused irreparable damage to lead singer Neill Fraser's flat when four litres of beer sank through the floor boards and into the downstairs light fixtures.

Of the video, drummer Dave Johnston tweeted, "Definitely the first time I've tried to do a yardie in a mask while wearing a pink dress."
