Six people have been arrested after two police pursuits in Napier.

A police spokesperson confirmed that two people were arrested after being found in an allegedly stolen vehicle which failed to stop for police on the Hawke's Bay Expressway about 3.45pm on Sunday.

The vehicle continued through the streets of Napier being pursued by police and ended at Nash Street, where it stopped and its occupants tried to flee.

Police are investigating the incident.

The arrests followed four people being taken into custody after a police pursuit in Napier on Saturday.

A police spokesperson said police witnessed a stolen vehicle on Kelvin Road in Maraenui just after 11pm.

"It failed to stop for Police when told to do so and fled.

"A brief pursuit ensued and the vehicle was spiked twice."

She said the vehicle eventually came to a stop, and four people were taken into custody.

Police have no further information at this stage.
