Sexual assault investigated

Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault in Napier

Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the early hours of this morning on Napier's Marine Parade.

A 29-year-old woman was assaulted near Marineland sometime between 3:30 and 5:00am.

Police would also like to speak to the member of the public who handed a bank card belonging to the victim into the Napier Police later that morning.

This is to identify where it was found.

Police patrols in the area will be increased and we would urge individuals and groups who are out at night to stay together whenever possible.
