One dead after cyclist and car crash at Haumoana, Hawke’s Bay – road closed

A person is dead after a crash between a car and a cyclist in rural Hawke’s Bay this morning, police say.

Emergency services were called to Mill Rd – which remains closed – after the 10.35am crash near Haumoana, about 14km east of Hastings.

“Despite best efforts by emergency services, one person died at the scene.

“The road remains closed while a scene examination is conducted.”

Hato Hone St John Ambulance sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the crash site.

A diversion for motorists was in place via Tukituki and Waimarama roads, police said.

“Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays.”
