Emergency services have been called to a serious two-car crash on State Highway 2 in between Central Hawke's Bay and Hastings.
The collision occurred on SH2 near Te Hauke, about 3km from Colin White Rd, a police spokesman said. Police were called at 3.47pm.
Two cars appeared to have collided
and a number of people were trapped, he said. Injuries were unknown at this stage.
A st Johns Ambulance spokesperson said they were called on scene but said it was most likely no transport would be required.
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter attended but was turned away.
