Serious crash closes State Highway 50 in Hawke’s Bay, diversions in place

A person has died following a crash that closed a major Hawke’s Bay highway earlier today.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on State Highway 50, north of Tikokino, shortly before 12.10pm.

Police said the person died at the scene.

A portion of SH50, which runs from Takapau to Napier in Central Hawke’s Bay, was closed until 3pm to allow debris to be removed.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
