Central Hawke’s Bay fatal crash: State Highway 2 reopens after closure

Police say one person died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2, near Takapau, Central Hawke's Bay.

One person is dead after a highway crash in Central Hawke’s Bay on Tuesday morning.

The two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2, near Takapau, was reported to police just before 7.30am.

A statement from police said one person died at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit was called and inquiries were ongoing to determine the circumstances of the accident.

The road was closed from 8am with detours in place. It was fully reopened by 1.55pm.
