A serious crash closed a section of State Highway 2 in Hawke’s Bay this afternoon.

Police said emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash at Tutira about 3.50pm.

In an update around 5.50pm, the New Zealand Transport Agency said the road had reopened.

“Three people were in the vehicle when it left the road, hitting the bank of the road, between Matahorua Rd and Sandy Creek Rd,” a police spokesperson said.

“One of the occupants is reported to have serious injuries and will be flown to hospital. Two others received non-life-threatening injuries and will also be taken to hospital.”
