Second student bashed in Hastings

Another school student is the victim of a Hastings street bashing, leaving her with severe bruising to her face and head.

The girl was allegedly set upon on Karamu Rd about 10pm last Friday, police said.

Two teenage girls, aged 14 and 15, were arrested in relation to the attack and appeared in the Hastings Youth Court yesterday on assault charges.

Police said the victim's jacket and bag were also stolen by the alleged offenders.

Friday's assault comes after the attack on Hastings Intermediate School student Azaleas Quenton last month.

Azaleas, 12, was left bloodied and beaten following an assault as he walked through Akina Park in Hastings on his way home from school.

A 14-year-old was charged with injuring with intent to injure and appeared in Hastings Youth Court this month.

The teenager was one of five youths who allegedly struck Azaleas as he walked through Akina Park with his bike.

They then allegedly continued to kick him in the head as he lay on the ground.
