This display saw the Davcon Ltd apprentice builder become the 10th weekly winner as the tussle for the Tui-Hawke's Bay Today Club Rugby Player of the Year award continued.
A product of the Porangahau and Napier Boys' High School junior rugby systems, Mogford is keen to see this form continue when Tech host Clive at Whitmore Park this weekend.
"I feel sorry for Clive because they haven't been getting the wins they deserve but I will have to forget about that sorrow when we're on the field," he said.
Last year Mogford played more as a winger than halfback for Tech as 2013 New Zealand under-20 halfback Sheridan Rangihuna, who transferred to Wellington this season, was playing for Tech. He is enjoying the increased game time in his preferred position this season.
It wasn't a surprise when he singled out former Hurricane Chris Eaton as the toughest player he has marked in the Bay. Mogford ranked his Tech teammate and Highlanders Super player Richard Buckman as the most inspirational player he has played alongside.
His father Russell, who coached him during his days playing for Porangahau, is still at the top of his list of favourite coaches.
Mogford pointed out the physical nature of his job is ideal for rugby. He works alongside Tech teammate Zane Crook and Havelock North co-captain Adam Bradey.
"There's always plenty of banter leading up to our games with Havelock. I can't wait for our game against them the weekend after this one."
Providing Tech beat Clive this weekend, a win against the villagers will see them three from three in the Maddison comp and well on track to back up Mogford's prediction of Maddison Trophy retention.
