Defending champions Hastings Boys' High School recorded their third consecutive Super 8 rugby win of the season with a 70-0 drubbing of Gisborne Boys' High School in Hastings today.

The hosts ran in 12 tries and their skill levels and positive approach to the match belied the difficult ground conditions the players faced.

"Well done Hastings. You blokes displayed great skill levels in that soup," Gisborne coach Tom Cairns said after both teams shook hands.

His team did well to keep Hastings scoreless for the first 15 minutes of the second half after trailing 31-0 at halftime.

"Yes Gisborne are a good side so our boys should be proud of themselves for the day's work they produced. Yes there were errors but that's because we were still prepared to move the ball on a day like today," Hastings coach Mark Ozich said.
