"Hopefully we have turned the corner. The boys have been putting in some hard work and just having everyone fit has been a big plus," Parsons said.
A Manawatu Turbos player for the past three seasons after playing 15 games for the Magpies between 2012 and 2014, Parsons, 27, missed four weeks of action with a knee injury.
Fellow Magpie, second five-eighth Pasqualle Dunn, was also out of action for a while and former Turbos and Magpies utility back Lewis Marshall has also returned to the playing roster after an injury spell.
While there is plenty of experience when Parsons, Dunn and Marshall are on the field together, Parsons pointed out some of the club's promising players including prop Cam Pratt have been "playing good footy" in recent weeks.
"I hear Taradale have a got a few of their boys back this week after having a several out in recent weeks so it should be a good game."
Like Dunn, Parsons, is in the Magpies starting XV for Monday's pre-season clash against Wairarapa Bush in Featherston. However he still intends to play 80 minutes today and enjoy the anniversary celebrations.
"I'll play 80 against Taradale and whatever I'm required to play on Monday. I'll have a couple of beers on Saturday because it is a big occasion but I will keep it under control. Coming from this area I know how special the occasion is," Parsons said.
The manager of the logging truck division of his father and former Magpies loosie Rod Parsons' Middle Hill Contracts Limited business, Parsons has an extra incentive to give his all for the hosts today.
His brother and fellow Magpies lock Ben Parsons was ruled out for the remainder of the season four weeks ago after a work related incident in which he was knocked out.
While his jaw wasn't broken he still required 30 stitches and had to have two teeth replaced.
The Central side will be wearing the team's original harlequin jerseys today. The commemorative jerseys, the same as those worn by players in the club's first game in 1994, will be auctioned after the game as a fundraiser for the club.
Parsons is relishing being back in the Magpies wider training group and mixing these trainings, his Central team trainings and his work commitments.
"It's pretty full on but it seems to be working."
He is looking forward to Monday's match.
"We covered a lot of detail at Wednesday night's training and it should be a good game on Monday."
Taradale will miss the services of Magpies wider training group openside flanker Nathan Tweedy who is late withdrawal from Monday's match through injury.
Along with Central, defending champions WIT Napier Old Boys Marist and Tanalised Napier Pirate Rugby and Sports, will also host club day fixtures today.

Magpies head coach Mark Ozich will be hoping there won't be too many more additions to his 11-strong injury list after today's round.
He pointed out some of his 27 players will get only 40 minutes in the Featherston encounter which kicks off at 2pm but those who need more game time may get up to 60 minutes.
