The northern stretch of SH2 from Napier is the strong focus of repair and maintenance work with delays and travel-time impacts of up to five minutes expected.
A drainage maintenance programme between Wairoa and Waikare and surface water blasting of sites between Morere and Wairoa will see temporary speed restrictionsand stop-go signalling in place over the week.
New Zealand Transport Agency contractors are also carrying out surface repairs at several sites between Bay View and Wairoa, with restrictions in place.
A major bridge repair job is also under way at Ohinepaka and minor delays can be expected there.
NZTA Napier journey manager Oliver Postings said a surface water-blasting programme was also under way on SH38 between Wairoa and Titirangi Rd and motorists needed to take care on the stretch and stick to the temporary speed restrictions and signalling. Delays can be expected.
Apart from work on a stock underpass at Creek Rd near Gwavas Station on SH50 no other works are being carried out on that stretch.
SH5 between Napier and Taupo is also free from roadworks.
While delays at the two major roadworks in the region, the Whakatu arterial and the new Watchman Rd roundabout will be "negligible" motorists were urged to drive with caution through both sites.
