Motorists are asked to plan ahead over the next two weeks, with parts of the Hawke's Bay Expressway to be closed while undergoing essential maintenance.
The maintenance work will began on Monday and will run through until May 21.
During this period, there will be lane closures from 9am to 3pm.
Only one section and one lane (either northbound or southbound) will be closed at any time, followed by the other lane in the same section before moving onto another section.
From May 3 to May 5, the closures will be between the Kennedy Rd Overbridge to Flaxmere Ave.
From May 6 to May 13, paintwork will be completed from Watchman Rd to Longlands Rd.
Detour routes will be in place.
A spokesperson for Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency acknowledged the closures would cause some disruption to motorists and thanked drivers in advance for their patience and cooperation.
