A person was flown to Hawke's Bay Hospital with minor injuries today after a fall from a tree while pruning in a remote forestry area northwest of Napier.

The incident was reported to emergency services just after 10am in the area of Pohokura Rd, Te Haroto.

The Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter and St John Ambulance services responded but neither police nor fire crews were understood to have become involved, although police had been advised.

Initial reports were that a person had fallen several metres, but that injuries were not serious.

Helicopter service general manager Ian Wilmot confirmed a man, aged in the 30s, had been flown to the hospital in Hastings with minor injuries.
