“By giving up just one coffee a week about $6, your contribution can support 52 students for an entire year. It’s a simple act that creates lasting impact — helping young people develop the skills they need to navigate challenges, build confidence, and thrive.
“Whether you choose to support financially, advocate for the programme, or simply share our story, your involvement helps us reach more students and strengthen more communities.”
Another of the trust’s initiatives — the Run for Reido — began in 2021, just four months after the suicide of local mechanic Reid O’Leary. Held next month, it was created to encourage conversation around suicide awareness and mental health.
Organisers said the event is for the community to come together, support each other, and create space for open, honest conversations around mental health and suicide.
All donations will support the R.E.I.D Wellness Program — helping raise awareness, education, and prevention of suicide, while giving schools access to real-time wellbeing tools to better support young people.
The event will take place on May 9 at Mitre10 Park, Hastings, from 1pm-4pm. For information see reidolearycharitabletrust.co.nz.
