Question time for Tukituki candidates

Voters in the Tukituki electorate will get a chance to hear directly from candidates standing in the upcoming elections at a Meet the Candidates event organised by Hawke's Bay Today.

The meeting, run in conjunction with NewstalkZB, will be held next Monday at 6pm at Karamu High School in Hastings.

National MP for Tukituki and candidate Craig Foss, Labour's Anna Lorck, Chris Perley of the Green Party, Dr Stephen Jenkinson of the Conservative Party and Romana Manning of Legalise Cannabis Aotearoa will each outline why they should be elected as MP and will also answers questions from Hawke's Bay Today readers.

Editor Andrew Austin said the paper was holding the meeting to give readers and the public in general a chance to hear what the candidates stood for.

"We are not telling you how to vote. We just want you to have the opportunity to make an informed choice," Mr Austin said.

There will be a gold coin entry with proceeds going to Cranford Hospice.

A straw poll will be conducted after the candidates have had their say and the poll's results will be published in the next day's paper.
