Napier Police are seeking witnesses to a crash which left a woman with serious injuries.

The collision occurred between a car and ute shortly before 3pm on Friday on Napier-Taupo Highway, SH5, near the intersection with SH2.

Police are seeking witnesses after a yellow Mazda Demio was forced off the road by a blue ute completing a passing move on a blind corner.

A Napier Volunteer Fire Brigade spokesperson said the yellow car crashed into a power pole, trapping the driver who had to be extricated.

A St John Ambulance spokesperson said a 69-year-old woman was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a serious condition.
