Police are seeking the man who was flung over the bonnet of this speeding car.

Police are seeking the man who was flung over the bonnet of this speeding car.

Police are looking for a man who was flung over the bonnet of a car in a hit and run in Napier CBD on Friday night.

Onlooker Kieran Scheele captured the moment on video as the car screamed down Hastings St and turned in Tennyson St on the wrong side of the road as it hit the man. He then stood up and walked off.

The video shows several people in the area at the time. Yelling and swearing can be heard. The six-second video has been viewed more than 75,000 times since he posted it on his personal Facebook page.

Police had received no complaints about the incident and no one had come forward.

Prevention manager Inspector Dean Clifford said police would like to speak to the person who was hit and the driver of the car.

"So far we have not been contacted by anyone about this and it all appears to be a bit of a mystery. We are very keen to speak to those involved, especially the driver of the car."

Police attended the incident on the night but by the time they arrived at the scene, both parties had disappeared.

Anyone with information should contact Hawke's Bay police on 06 831 0700.
