Police reassure public as Napier firearms incident inquiry begins

Police are calling for witnesses after a firearms incident north of Napier.

Police responded with armed officers on Main North Rd, State Highway 2, Bay View, north of Napier about 10.50am on Thursday.

Cordons were in place along Main North Rd as a precaution.

A police spokesperson said inquiries were ongoing on Friday.

“Police believe the people involved are known to each other and want to reassure the public there is no ongoing threat to public safety,” the spokesperson said.
