Cordons of armed police stationed around Marewa after the alleged sighting of a person with a firearm have been stood down.

A police spokesperson said at 3.30pm nothing of concern had been located.

“However the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while further enquiries are carried out.”

Police responding to an incident on Nuffield Avenue, Marewa, about 2.30pm and several could be seen stationed near the intersection with Savage Cres. A spokesperson urged the public to avoid the area.
