A 27-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a police officer conducting inquiries at a property near Waipawa.
At least five police cars were parked near a property on Ongaonga Rd, Waipawa, about 12.30pm, with police telling a witness at the scene it was a “tense situation”.
A policespokesperson said when they went to the property at 11.15am they were met with “agitated” and “aggressive” behaviour.
This behaviour included “spitting and throwing objects at the officers”, the spokesperson said.
One man was arrested and charged with assaulting police, the spokesperson said. He was set to appear in Waipukurau District Court on Thursday.
