A large police contingent has been called to a busy petrol station and a park north of Napier after an incident nearby.
Police could be seen in the area of BP Bay View on Main North Rd, State Highway 2, about 11.10am. A large police presence was then parked downroad from the BP, next to Petane Domain about 12.10pm.
One resident said a large police presence had been stationed next to the park since about 11am, but she was unsure what it was about.

A BP Bay View staff member said they could not comment on the nature of the incident. A police spokesperson said more information would be released when it was available.
