Hawke's Bay police spent nearly four hours at an address on Neal Cres Onekawa, Napier, on Thursday afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said they worked alongside the Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) in a pre-planned operation to try to locate a person who was wanted for arrest.

The operation began after 4pm and ended at 8.20pm. Cordons were in place restricting access to the street.

The spokesperson said another property in Harold Holt Ave was also searched, but the wanted person was not found.

Police said there was no risk to the public and thanked residents for their patience and co-operation.
