Napier rugby player John Taitoko, 28, is still fighting for his life.
Mr Taitoko is in intensive care at Hawke's Bay Hospital after collapsing with heart problems in a game of rugby at Park Island on Saturday.
A Givealittle page has been created to help Mr Taitoko's family at thisdifficult time.
Mr Taitoko was working fulltime as a forester to provide for his family and his partner Hayley O'Connor is a fulltime mum looking after their 8-month-old son Jax.
All money raised will go towards helping Ms O'Connor with mortgage, food, bills and Mr Taitoko's healthcare.
The page, "John, Hayley and Jax", said the couple were amazing parents to Jax and it was devastating to think of the tough times ahead.
"We are all hoping and praying for the best. No matter what happens they will have plenty of family and friends helping them all the way."
Mr Taitoko's Napier Old Boys' Marist senior thirds team was playing Dannevirke club Aotea at Park Island when he collapsed about 30 minutes into the first half.
Referee Hans Seitzinger called the match off and both teams shared the competition points. The front rower has been in a critical condition since arriving at the hospital on Saturday.
