A pedestrian is in hospital after they were hit by a car on Marine Parade.

Emergency services attended the incident at 12.13pm on Monday.

A police spokeswoman said the pedestrian had moderate injuries and had been transported to Hawke's Bay Hospital via ambulance.

A St Johns Ambulance spokesman said they transported a man in his 40s.

The road was not blocked.
