The most watched YouTube video in New Zealand this year is footage of Paul Henry's acceptance speech at the Qantas Film and Television Awards, YouTube community manager Mia Quagliarello says.
This was closely followed by Air NZ - Happy Hour in second place and Air New Zealand - Crazy About Rugby
- Safety Video occupying third position.
The New Zealand results encapsulated everything from Rugby, with Air New Zealand's safety video, to disaster, with a Christchurch earthquake video, and film, with the trailer for `Boy', Ms Quagliarello said.
``The most-watched video on YouTube was Paul Henry's acceptance speech at the Qantas Film and Television awards, and he was followed closely by our beloved Rico from the Air New Zealand advertisements.''
The most-watched YouTube videos of 2010 reflected the people, places and events that captured New Zealanders attention and imagination throughout the year.
``YouTube has become the world's town square -- a place where culture is created and shared.''
The trailer for the movie Boy and footage from the September 4 Canterbury earthquake also made it in the top 10 spots.
Globally, the most watched YouTube video this year was Bed Intruder Song by YouTube partner Auto-Tune the News aka the Gregory Brothers. Inspired by a local news segment, this song featured an `auto-tuned' version of Alabama man Antoine Dodson enter the music charts, and the revenue it generated helped Dodson purchase a new home.
