The Affordable WestShore Holiday Park got a wet welcome to the festive season after being flooded last night.
A large part of the park was under water after a drilling company burst an eight-inch water main while putting in an IT network in Meeanee Quay around 8pm.
Napier firefighters were
called to the site to control the flooding.
The water was turned off at the park around 9.15pm but fresh water was supplied to campers for drinking and teeth-cleaning until it was restored around 11.30pm.
The four-star rated park, owned by Ray and Anna Stevenson, is just coming into its high season with an average of about 250 guests per day in summer.
The flood is believed to have been a setback for the park staff who have been working hard to prepare it for the busy Christmas period.
Located five minutes out of Napier's City Centre the holiday park offers a range of accommodation including self-contained units, motels, cabins and tent sites.
The park is in negotiations with the company over the incident and did not wish to comment.
