Chris P welcomed 13 members to the October meeting of the Otawhao-Takapau Women’s Institute at St Mark’s Church.

Sadly one of the members, Margaret Hobson, passed away since the last meeting. The thoughts of the institute members are with her family.

The speaker was Jo Ward from the Takapau Health Centre. Jo spoke about her journey from England and how she came to work at the Takapau Health Centre. The group was told about the plans for the new Takapau Community Health Centre to be built behind the Scout Hall in Takapau. Fundraising is under way. Jo spoke about cervical screening and left the group with Rats tests for Covid.

The garden club went to the Tree Guys in Otane and plans to go to the Sugar and Salt cafe in Dannevirke for the next meeting.

Our junior members have been busy, planting plants in the community garden. They have made cards and plan to put seeds in packets for our stall in November.
