Firefighters from around Hawke’s Bay are fighting a vegetation fire near the Central Hawke’s Bay community of Ōtāne.

Fire and Emergency NZ were called to the fire about noon on Monday.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said nine trucks, including some from Napier and Hastings, four tankers, and a command unit were at the scene, along with a bulldozer which would be used to create a firebreak in vegetation if necessary.
