Renowned New Zealand musician and Hawke's Bay native Paul Carnegie-Jones will perform in Hastings in a "toe-tapping" concert next Thursday.

He is joining 3 Mad Fiddlers and the Odd Singer! - a touring concert of brilliant fiddlers and singers who promise "infectious energy" in a show full of variety.

Award-winning fiddlers Marian Burns, Vanessa Harvey and Michaela Roy will be joined by singers Susan Boland and John Cameron to perform well-loved melodies, including When the Red Red Robin, Pack Up Your Troubles and She'll be Coming Round the Mountain.

John and Susan are a husband-and-wife team who founded Operatunity, a leading arts company providing concerts and events throughout New Zealand.

Carnegie-Jones' performances have taken him throughout New Zealand but his most recent local role was as musical director for the Napier Operatic Society's production of Evita.

He grew up in Hawke's Bay and began playing the piano at the age of 9. He studied in Wellington for a time.

He loves Hawke's Bay for its sunshine, Te Mata Park and great places to walk his dogs.
