New Zealand-born mezzo-soprano Sarah Castle studied at Victoria University of Wellington and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, and made her debut for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, as Tisbe in La Cenerentola.

Sarah (pictured) has subsequently appeared there in a wide range of other operatic roles, including parts of Wagner's Ring Cycle, with appearances also in Europe and the United States.

Castle will be visiting Hawke's Bay next week and will present a lunch hour recital in St Paul's Church, Tennyson St, Napier, at 1pm next Wednesday, December 9.

Accompanied by Napier pianist Adrienne van Drimmelen, the programme will feature music by Handel, Kurt Weil and Hugo Wolf and a selection of Christmas favourites.

Concert admission $5. Door sales.
