Police are investigating after a person was seriously injured in a struggle with the occupants of a Hastings home on Tuesday after they allegedly tried to force their way in.

One of the occupants was transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A police statement said they were called to the residential address on Montgomery St about 12.45pm.

A Hato Hone St John spokesman confirmed one person was assessed at the scene and transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.

Inquiries were ongoing and no charges had been laid as of Wednesday morning.

A police spokesman initially said one person appeared to be seriously injured with a stab wound.

Police also claimed a woman was arrested after nearby residents caused “significant disruption” for responding officers. A 49-year-old woman was arrested for disorderly behaviour and was scheduled to appear in Hastings District Court on Wednesday.
