One person dead after crash on SH2, near Awatoto

One person has died following a fatal crash between a car and truck on SH2 at Awatoto.

Police said the crash occurred shortly after 11pm on Monday and involved a car and a truck. A second person received critical injuries.

The road was closed as a result of the crash however re-opened around 6am.

The Serious Crash Unit was investigating.
