One dead and four injured in Te Haroto crash

Emergency services are attending a serious crash near Te Haroto.

State Highway 5 has reopened again after a motorist was killed and four others injured in a serious crash on the Napier-Taupo Rd this afternoon.

Police say emergency services were contacted about the crash, which happened on State Highway 5 near Te Haroto, at 4:20pm.

Two vehicles were involved in the accident that occured in light rain. A rescue helicopter and two ambulances are at the site.

The road was completely blocked for about three hours while emergency services attended the scene.

Motorists are asked to avoid travelling in the area if possible.
