The Black Caps arrived in Napier early yesterday afternoon but were not available to media after some players spent some time working out at a Napier gym while others opted for massages.
New Zealand Cricket communications manager Joanne Perry said some players had conducted their media interviews in Auckland before boarding their flight.
They will be available to the media at 1.30pm at McLean Park today before training from 2pm to 5pm at Nelson Park across the road but there's no mention of what happens if it's raining.
Perry was unable to contact her marketing team to determine how many tickets have been sold to the game.
"But we'd like to think that Central Stags fans will be out in force to support the in-form Ross Taylor," she said. Taylor is in sublime test cricket form but was run out for three in a mix up with Kane Williamson in the opening ODI at Eden Park, Auckland.
Hawke's Bay crowds are traditionally walk-up ones on game day and the return of former Hawke's Bay cricketer Jesse Ryder is likely to pull in numbers, especially since the former Napier Boys' High School pupil failed to fire in Auckland with a five-ball duck.
From Napier, the Black Caps will jet off to Queenstown on Monday for the third ODI on New Year's Day.
