Earthquakes and aftershocks are among the most read stories online on Tuesday along with the Queens Birthday weekend road toll standing at zero for the first time in sixty years, with that story dominating all the top headlines of major new sites. Other top stories include a quarter of real estate agents have deserted the industry in the past year and a search for a missing Chinese student at the Goat Island marine reserve north of Auckland.  The top trending topics on Twitter is "Shrek."
The Google News New Zealand lead headline is from The Dominion Post and reads "Holiday road toll stands at zero."  It says in the most popular story the Queen's Birthday holiday road toll stands at zero for the first time since records began. Another featured story from 3 News says the search continues today for an Auckland University student who's been missing since Saturday night.  And another story from 3 News says searchers are scouring specific areas of interest in rough terrain as they hunt for a missing Palmerston North man.  
 
The nzherald.co.nz lead headline online says "Holiday road toll ends at zero."  The web site says for the first time in more than 50 years there have been no fatal accidents on the roads this Queen's Birthday holiday weekend. It says a quarter of New Zealand real estate agents - almost 5000 - have deserted the industry in the past year during a bleak period of low sales. And it says the woman killed in the weekend's watermain explosion and a seriously injured colleague are believed to have been blown out of one section of pipe and into another by the force of the blast. The most read story says he's billed as a man who can become the greatest multi-code athlete in history, but on last night's evidence Sonny Bill Williams still has a fairly lengthy journey ahead of him.

It says a dive squad and search and rescue teams are about to resume a search for a missing Chinese student at the Goat Island marine reserve north of Auckland. And it says a paedophile detailed the gratuitous sexual fantasies he wanted to play out with his six-year-old victim in a diary he kept hidden under his bed. The most read story says a grandmother was seriously injured as she tried to stop her seven-year-old grandson driving a car.
The Radio New Zealand lead headline online says "No road deaths during holiday weekend."  It says Queens Birthday Weekend is over with no road deaths reported. It says figures provided by the Treasury suggest the Government is borrowing about $100 million per week more than it needs to. And it says test results on more than half the samples of German bean sprouts, suspected of causing an outbreak of E.coli in Europe, came back negative.
The 3 News top story online has the headline "Queen's Birthday road toll lowest ever - zero."  The web site says police believe a record has just been set – a fatal-free long holiday weekend on the roads for the first time since records were first kept 60 years ago. It says the former International Monetary Fund head charged with trying to rape a Manhattan hotel maid formally said he was innocent of the charges Monday in his first court appearance in the case in two weeks.  And it says the contents of a hastily scrawled note suggested that Libyan officials were lying when they said a baby girl was wounded in a NATO attack. The most read story says Christchurch experienced a large aftershock.
The One News lead headline says "Work to resume on fatal explosion site."  The web site says work at the site of a fatal explosion in the Auckland suburb of Onehunga is expected to get back underway today. It says a Porirua man will face arson charges when he appears in court today. And it says the Dalai Lama arrives in New Zealand today to offer his sympathies to quake-torn Christchurch. The most read story says a 6.6 magnitude earthquake has hit near MacQuarie Island, in between New Zealand and Antarctica.
The Newstalk ZB lead headline says "Historic zero road toll achieved."  The web site says New Zealand has achieved its first ever Queen's Birthday weekend without a death on our roads. It says the police dive squad and launch will today join the search for a student missing from Auckland University's marine laboratory at Leigh. ANd the web site says police have released a description of a vehicle they believe is associated with a spate of suspicious fires in the Wellington region.  The most read story says there's been a significant 5.5 magnitude aftershock in Christchurch.
