She's not a ballerina and rather than being the queen of the dancing floor little Nina Coe is the queen of the roller disco.
At just three-years-old, the littley who lives in the Kawekas is barely old enough to operate a two-wheel bike but she stole the show when she competed
in her first roller skating competition.
Nina, led out by mum Leigh Hudson-Coe, a top international judge and former international level skater, was far from the beginner the crowd at the Upper Hutt Roller Skating Club had expected.
Skate NZ spokeswoman Mary Anne Thomson said she not only remembered her routine but nailed the beginner jumps and spins with ease.
"She skated with polish," Ms Thomson said.
And for her efforts, Nina won the Tiny Tots gold medal.
While this was Nina's debut on rollerskates, the big names in New Zealand skating turned out to the two-day competition to check out what they would be up against as they lead into the regional competitions.
Regional winners then go onto area competition, nationals, Oceania and eventually the world championships.
Competitors pulled out some impressive routines in all disciplines including free skating, figure skating, solo dance skating and dance pairs.
World championship appearances don't happen overnight either so it's back to the Hastings Skating Club for Nina, the roller ballerina until regional championships are held in Wanganui next month.
