"Participants can cross the finish line and then sit back and enjoy the food, wine and local hospitality on offer. What better way to spend a weekend away with friends, either as a runner or a supporter?" Mr Beeche said.
The Hawke's Bay marathon will also include 21km and 10km races, and a 3km kids' race.
Local runner Hayden Pearce said he had always considered the Bay his favourite place to run.
"It's not just because of the great scenery, but the air is fresh and grounds are flat."
Mr Pearce is living in Wellington but said he would come home in a heartbeat for the event.
"I love endurance running, so it's a no-brainer."
Chief commercial and sales officer for Air New Zealand Cam Wallace said the sponsorship agreement covers events in both Hawke's Bay and Queenstown, in 2016 and 2017.
Mr Wallace said last year's inaugural marathon in Queenstown attracted close to 6000 runners.
